Notice of Consideration of a new scheme for the waiver of Rates

Submission deadline: Monday July 21, 2025

Section 15 of the Local Government Rates and Other Matters Act 2019 makes specific provision that elected members of a local authority may make a scheme providing for the waiver of rates, and that such a scheme shall be approved at a local authority meeting.

Clare County Council will consider a scheme proposed by the Economic Strategic Policy Committee providing for the waiver of rates applying in the 2026 final year.

Clare County Council welcomes written submissions from the public on the Proposal adopted by the Economic Strategic Policy Committee, covering the potential effects of the scheme providing for the waiver of rates on businesses, individuals and on local authority services.

Submissions must be received by the 21st July 2025 and may be made using one of the following methods:

  1. By email to: economicdev@clarecoco.ie
  2. By Post to: Senior Executive Officer, Economic Development, Clare County Council, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare, V95 DXP2

Submissions should be clearly marked as "New Rates Waiver Proposal"

NB.: As this is a public consultation process, submissions may be made available for public viewing and consequently personal details such as address, email address, and phone number should be submitted on a separate sheet accompanying any submissions or observations.
